This day we had the opportunity to sleep out and recharge our inner batterys (We would definitely need them later on).
The day started relatively harmless. We had again a free lunch and aftwerwards some sports were on the program. But there was one little thing that they had not told us before. Namely that the gymnasium was almost at the opposite part of the city. A hazardous path riddled with all kinds of danger, but totally unsuspecting as we were, we took our bikes and followed our mentors to the city of Utrecht.
Streets that ended all of the sudden, canals that had to be passed and a labyrinth of narrow alleys were expecting us and they would not let us pass unpaid. They called for a sacrifice and they got one - we had to leave one bike behind, abandoned to its fate.
Somehow we finally manage to get to gymnasium. And as you can see from the map above, it was quite a distance and some of the students were already totally exhausted (myself included). Nevertheless we played a couple of rounds football, volleyball, basketball and last but not least Frisbee. However our hassle has been rewarded with some originally dutch sweets - “drops” and “stroopwaffels”.
After that we had a drink in one of the nice cafes at the kanaleneiland winkelcentrum and there was also enough time left for me to take another ride to the centrum of Utrecht to find a computerstore and finally buy a network cable, long enough to connect the plugs (right above my entrance door) with my laptop (which stands on the desk at the opposite side of the room).
The way back I took of course cycling and in the end I covered a distance of round about 25km that day (detours not included) with my bike. Slowly I am getting used to it ;).
